I want to take a minute to truly thank the great officers of our police department who have been protecting us here in this town for many years now. Their old school attitude of my town still being a "Mayberry" is what sets them apart from the new school, aggressive, big city types. The old school officers take the time to be personal & friendly with town residents and to spend time with local troubled youths that may need guidance. Thanks again to all you old school officers who sometime give us a break and take the time to be a deterrent rather than following the strict letter of the law all the time. Your short term personalized investment in us results in long term appreciation from the citizens of Christiansburg.
Now there are a few police officers (mostly the younger ones) that still haven't learned that you get more respect & admiration by being kind than by being tough & hardnosed. It is a special feeling when a young person comes back and thanks you for your help & concern rather than them growing up to resent & hate the badge you stand behind.
I hope that this entry is helpful to those within the law enforcement sector who take the time to take the community's pulse by reading these blogs.
May God guide you and kept you safe always.
