Dear WE, The People...
I just havent had the time to blog everyday due to me doing my hospice work at night and taking care of my mother during the day. I apologize to those who missed me. As I drive around town I have resorted to keeping a piece of paper to write notes on about my "issues" (a nice term an annonymous poster said I had alot of of).
1. The flag in town square (not raised or lowered or illuminated at night)
2. Trash cans at bus stops (the ground is littered with empty soda & beer cans)
3. The final old towne crusin on August 23rd. Dont miss out on a day at the Montgomery Museum and then the crusin at 4:00 PM with a live band at 6:00 PM.
4. The Montgomery Regional Hospital motorcycle poker run and car show on Saturday, August 16th. This is a fundraiser for the McFarland/Sutphin families. It will be held behind the hospital. Call Gerry at (540) 239-2555 for info.
5.
www.PublicSurplus.com website where the town can sell surplus stuff (like old parking meters the Mayor offered to sell). Other localities such as Montgomery County, Blacksburg, Radford, and others already use it. Why are we always the last to get on board? Progressiveness I guess?
6. Police Stuff. Bicycle/foot patrols in the shopping center districts. How about buying a couple of those little scooters to putt around on and save $$$? I know where we can buy them for $900.00 each. What about the bicycle registration, operation identification, and neighborhood watch crime prevention programs? Are the officers still driving cruisers home to Floyd and other distant areas? Only the Chief, K-9 officer, Crime Scene technician, and SWAT/QRT supervisors should be that important. How about the idea of a resident liasion officer to be a mediator with the police department? Chief Sisson? Are you there?
7. Mr. Mayor, did you say I had elected representatives to speak for me? I dont think so. I didnt give up that right when I voted. Fortunately, my street wise police mouth and attorney training didnt pop out. I guess I'm calming down with my old age, huh? I had enough civility and respect for your position not to put you in your place last time. I wont be so tolerate next time. BTW, two of my representatives from the last election havent been seated yet.
8. I still havent heard from anyone from the town about any of the issues that I have brought up in the past. What happened to the 30 day resident follow up idea, Ernie?
9. Someone from the streets department please check the light triggers at the intersections for motorcycles. On several occasions when I am riding my motorcycle the triggers dont detect me and I end up sitting there FOREVER...
10. Isnt democracy fun, Mr. Mayor?
NOW...I feel much better.
