My husband and I are proud owners of antique classic cars. We have been taking our cars to the KMart parking lot in Christiansburg on Saturday nights the past few years. Usually a crowd of 50 or more classic car owners show up with their vehicles and socialize with each other.
Guess where all the owners and their mates spend money every Saturday evening? KMart, Wendy's, and Fazoli's are within walking distance to the classic car crusin and have benefited from this little get together. Spectators are also stopping by and spending money at nearby businesses.
Now we have the Town of Christiansburg sponsoring one Saturday afternoon and evening the next four months for a downtown crusin for classic cars. Several businesses have donated time and money to help in this endeavor.
I applaud the Town and the businesses for participating and encouraging this event. It will attract many classic car lovers to the downtown area who will spend their money eating and shopping in DOWNTOWN Christiansburg! What a revolutionary idea, huh?
Christiansburg can monopolize on this idea by attracting classic car lovers AND antique lovers to the downtown district. By having something that no other town has we can begin to revitalize "Old Town Christiansburg" to be a unique attraction for southwest Virginia. Let's jump on this opportunity and publicize this event to all of oue neighbors & freinds.
The first cruisin is on Saturday, May 19th.
