I have held off talking about Hillary Clinton as the Secretary of State until it began to look as if it really is true. I think the job was offered to her, and I hope she accepts. I think she would be a great Secretary of State. There would not be much of a learning curve, she is already well-known around the world, and she has had relationships with many of the same people she would be dealing with. She's very smart, but more than that, she knows how to fit into an organization. I think she would be able to represent Barack Obama's ideas and policy directions without him having to worry about missteps. When I think of a couple of others who have been mentioned, I don't think of their steely forcefulness that is nevertheless, couched in the light touch of diplomacy that Clinton has had to show all her political life. So, bravo Hillary. I hope you accept the position of Secretary of State. It would be good for the country, and you would get a lot done.
